PRIMETIME September 2023
Hello and welcome to Primetime, Watchmaking in the news and this is our 80th edition! We still can’t believe this number ourselves, but we would like to thank all of you who support us and inspire us to provide you with the most important news from the industry and reviews on the latest watch releases.
In today’s edition:
- Outcomes of the epic acquisition of Bucherer by Rolex 🧐
- Pop-up Sotheby's section at Bucherer store in Zurich
- Swatch & Blancpain and our thoughts on this 😎
- Hodinkee job cuts
- John Lennon’s long-lost Patek Philippe found in Geneva
- Sailing like a PRO at SailGP
- Vacheron Constantin collab with Rolls-Royce
- Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph
- Hidden mirror of Chapter 4.7 Onyx Tourbillon C. Lémanic by BA111OD
- Watch Fairs in October
And a quick reminder that we published a dozen of great videos on the novelties, revealed during the Geneva Watch Days. From Ulysses Nardin pushing the boundaries with a silicon mainplate for its new Blast Free Wheel Marquetry, to Ressence presenting a new version of the Type 3 coming in eucalyptus green. We also talked about the very cool collaboration between H.Moser and MB&F for Only Watch, we had a very interesting business talk with Vincent Perriard from HYT coming back on the re-development of the brand following its bankruptcy and what it takes to bring it back to life and regain the trust of collectors and the type of products they now need to focus on. Plus we also have the unboxing of a special timepiece with IN-16 Nixie by Gelfman. It is not your usual watch and more of a cool time-telling object and it’s not every day that you can actually wear a nixie piece on your wrist.
Viva Watchmaking everyone!
